The Writers Collective

at Paris-Noble

A community of artists dedicated to helping one another strengthen their craft and champion each other’s work.

Our Story

Why is writing the only artform in which the artist must be invested in by industry gate-keepers before sharing their work with the world? Why do readers assume a self-published book is a book that wasn’t good enough to be published “for real”?

The reality of the publishing industry is complex and growing more convoluted each year. Traditional publishing is only one what that quality fiction reaches the public. The market is over-saturated. Only a handful of non-commercial fiction gets investment and promotion through traditional publishers. An even smaller share of those are debut authors. An even smaller share of those are debut authors without previous ties to the publishing industry. As a result, even exceptionally talented writers can languish in today’s industry. The odds of securing representation and a traditional publishing deal are narrow, regardless of the quality of your work. And if you are one of the lucky ones, the process can take years, most advances are negligible, marketing support may be limited, and the loss of artistic control can leave you questioning whether or not it was all worthwhile.

There has to be a better way for writers to share their art with the world.

Enter Paris-Noble: A Writer’s Collective.

Our vision - How it will work

Paris-Noble will be an application-and-invitation writers collective and independent publishing imprint. Interested writers submit a sample of their work for review by the members of the collective, who vote on whether to extend membership. A simple majority approval is all it takes to be invited to join the Paris-Noble community.

Once accepted, the writer becomes a full member of the Paris-Noble community and has a place on Paris-Noble Print’s roster of authors. Members will be matched with critique partners , who will commit to reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback.

As a Paris-Noble author, you will be also be an investor in the Paris-Noble Books imprint--not a financial investor, but an investor of your time, your insights, and your literary reputation. The goal is not just to publish books, but to publish book that the members of the Paris-Noble community will be proud to promote and champion. The strength of the Paris-Noble Books imprint rests on the quality of its portfolio. When a writer reaches a point where they think they are ready to publish, they submit their completed, edited manuscript for collective review. Members of the collective either approve the work for publication; extend tentative publication approval but require additional copy-editing prior to publication; or determine that additional substantive revisions are required prior to publication. (Anyone voting to reject the manuscript must provide constructive criticism of what would be required to achieve approval.)

Books published under the Paris-Noble Books imprint will still be self-published, but they will be self-published with the information, support, and marketing backing of Paris-Noble.

Meet the Team

Founding Author

Quillen deBruney writes literary and upmarket historical fiction. She is the author of two independently published novels, Child of June and Devils of Forsythe, both of which received a "Get It" verdict from Kirkus Reviews. Child of June was also named an Editor's Pick by Publishers Weekly's BookLife Reviews. Her work explores history and politics through intimate and layered storytelling and has received praise for its lyricism, empathy, and atmospheric quality.  Whether she's writing a coming-of-age romance, an American gothic mystery, or a psychological suspense, Quillen strives to meet the escapism of historical fiction with the realities of being a woman in eras seeped in misogyny.
